Rural Ireland. 1981. Nine-year-old Cait is sent away from her overcrowded, dysfunctional family to live with distant relatives for the summer. Quietly struggling at school and at home, she has learned to hide in plain sight from those around her—but after sun-dappled days spent milking cows, peeling potatoes and fetching water from the well, the Initially uncommunicative child soon opens up to her foster parents.

Writer/director Colm Bairead's award-winning debut feature is a textural and tender exploration of family, secrets and unbreakable bonds, showing that home is where you feel loved.

"The Quiet Girl unfurls gently... it seems so simple but leads only to possibilities, and one word – said twice – that will be engraved upon your heart." —Austin Chronicle
