Tropic Cinema Health and Safety/COVID-19 Protocols

(Effective December 2021)
Below you’ll find an overview of the health and safety precautions in place at Tropic Cinema for you and our staff. Please review them — and please don’t hesitate to let us know if you’ve any questions.

STAFF PRECAUTIONS
Staff members and volunteers are required to wear a mask at all times in the Tropic.

Before coming to work, staff members and volunteers self-monitor for fever or other symptoms of COVID-19. They will not come to work if experiencing any symptoms, or if they have been in contact with someone with COVID-19.

PATRON PRECAUTIONS
Ticketing and Screenings
We are limiting audience capacity in all screening halls to 50% maximum — which means 75 seats in the 153 seat theater and 22 in the 44 seat theaters.

Given capacity limitations, we recommend that you purchase your tickets online in advance. Availability permitting, we will sell tickets at our box office.

Only patrons with a ticket — or purchasing a ticket — are permitted in the building.

For safety’s sake, we ask patrons to limit their time in the lobby before or after screenings.

Arrive on time for your screening — we’ll cut off seating for a film 5 minutes after its start time.

Seating
Seating is general admission. When choosing your seat, please respect and maintain space and distance from others.

Masks
Based on current CDC guidance, masks are strongly encouraged at Tropic Cinema — except when eating/drinking in your seat.

Our staff members are required to wear masks.

We have masks at the theatre and will provide you with one if you’ve forgotten yours.

Concessions
For everyone’s safety, patrons are asked to take their concessions trash with them when leaving a screening — and dispose of it in the trash cans provided.

Restrooms
Our restrooms have touchless soap dispensers and touchless hand sanitizers for use. Restrooms are regularly cleaned and sanitized.

BUILDING ADAPTATIONS FOR HEALTH AND SAFETY
We upgraded our filtration to help provide a safe environment for both patrons and staff throughout our building as recommended by the CDC and CINESAFE:

● Improved central air and other HVAC filtration to MERV-13, as recommended by the CDC. (*MERV stands for “minimum efficiency report value,” a scale used to report the effectiveness of air filters. MERV-13* is efficient at capturing airborne viruses.)

● Keeping all systems running 24/7 with fans always on

Per the CDC’s current guidelines, masks are strongly encouraged at the Tropic (except when eating/drinking in your seat).
