Green Book

PG-13, 130 minutes / Cast: Viggo Mortensen, Mahershala Ali, Linda Cardellini

5/5 (7)

Oscar winner Mahershala Ali and Oscar nominee Viggo Mortensen hit the road together in "a touching and meaningful look at race and class in America" (IndieWire) from director Peter Farrelly ("There's Something About Mary," "Fever Pitch").

Mortensen plays Tony Lip, an Italian-American bouncer hired to drive world-class black pianist Dr. Don Shirley (Ali) on a 1962 concert tour from Manhattan to the Deep South. As they cross the Mason-Dixon line, they must rely on "The Negro Motorist's Green Book"—a guide to to the few establishments that were then safe for African-Americans. Confronted with racism, danger—as well as unexpected humanity and humor—they are forced to set aside differences to survive and thrive on the journey of a lifetime.
