A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood

PG, 108 minutes / Cast: Tom Hanks, Matthew Rhys, Susan Kelechi Watson

5/5 (1)

Tom Hanks steps into the canvas sneakers of the legendary Mr. Rogers in director Marielle Heller's "A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood," an inspiring and timely story of kindness triumphing over cynicism.

Based on the true story of a real-life friendship between Fred Rogers and journalist Tom Junod, "A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood" follows a jaded magazine writer (Emmy-winner Matthew Rhys) who is assigned to write a profile of the iconic television host. Initially skeptical, the reporter is won over by Mr. Rogers' genuine belief in goodness and humanity -- and in the process of profiling him, he learns his own lessons about empathy, kindness, and decency from America’s most beloved neighbor.
