The Tropic’s Monday Night Classics in August are all about Hot Pursuit — and the series continues with one of the all-time great chase movies of all time. “The Blues Brothers” are on a mission from God, and no one — not the Illinois Nazis, the Good Old Boys or the Cook County Sheriff’s office — is going to stop them from saving the orphanage where they grew up.
John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd star as Jake and Elwood Blues, two brothers getting the band back together after Jake served his time as a guest of the State of Illinois. Their mission is to raise $5,000 to pay off the back taxes for St. Helen of the Blessed Shroud orphanage — but pretty much nothing goes according to plan.
With a classic blues and soul soundtrack, a host of guest stars (James Brown, Cab Calloway, Aretha Franklin, Ray Charles, John Candy, Carrie Fisher, Steve Lawrence, Twiggy, Paul Reubens (aka Pee-Wee Herman), Frank Oz, Steven Spielberg) and a few hundred car wrecks, “The Blues Brothers” goes the extra 106 miles to become the ultimate Hot Pursuit movie.
