The Tropic Cinema is proud to be a Screening Partner for the 2017-18 Southern Circuit, a touring festival bringing the best of new independent film to communities across the South. Our 2018 slate of Southern Circuit films concludes with LOOK & SEE: A PORTRAIT OF WENDELL BERRY.
LOOK & SEE is filmed in Kentucky’s Henry County, where Berry—a farmer, activist and one of America’s most significant living writers—has lived and farmed since the mid-1960s. Filmmakers Laura Dunn and Jef Sewell chronicle decades of industrial and economic changes to this community’s agrarian way of life, painting a picture of changing landscapes and shifting values as seen through Berry’s eyes.
The film, executive-produced by Robert Redford and Terence Malick, skillfully combines Berry’s poetic and prescient words, gorgeous cinematography and the testimonies of his family and neighbors into a one-of-a-kind portrait.
All Southern Circuit screenings will feature appearances by filmmakers, actors and/or documentary subjects. Watch this page or follow Tropic Cinema on Facebook for details as they are confirmed.
