The Tropic Cinema is proud to introduce a new series: “Films that Changed Films,” hosted by Oscar-winning screenwriter and director Terry George. The series kicks off with this 1969 masterpiece that showcased some of the best of “The New Hollywood.”
With its iconic pairing of Paul Newman and Robert Redford, William Goldman’s playful, inventive screenplay and Burt Bacharach’s indelible score, “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid” has gone down as among the defining moments in late-’60s American cinema. This screening will be open with a short presentation from Terry George discussing the importance of the film, and will be followed by an open-forum discussion about its legacy and its impact on the movie industry at the dawn of the 1970s.
