The Tropic’s November Noir Monday Night Classics conclude with a special treat from the master of suspense—Alfred Hitchcock’s “Dial M for Murder” in its rarely seen original 3D incarnation.
Adapted by Hitchcock from a popular stage play, “Dial M for Murder” features an indelible performance from Grace Kelly and a satisfyingly twisted chain of blackmail, murder, improvisation and mistrust. When a tennis pro (Ray Milland) discovers that his wife Margot (Kelly) is having an affair, he blackmails an old associate into murdering her and making it look like a burglary. But when things go wrong, his carefully considered plan has to change in a hurry—and Margot and her lover have to think fast to stay alive.
Filmed in 3D, “Dial M for Murder” was never released in that form until the early 2010s. This one-night screening is a chance to experience the film in a whole new visual light, as it was originally intended.
